Organising Chairman of GOMCC 2019

On behalf of the 2nd Global Orthokeratology & Myopia Control Conference (2nd GOMCC 2019) Organising Committee, I am delighted to welcome delegates from around the world to this year’s conference. I am indeed, very honoured to serve as Conference Chair again.

The 1st GOMCC was well attended by 200 delegates from 10 countries. Many positive feedback were received from both the delegates and manufacturers. We hear your urgings for more of such events!

At last year’s GOMCC, we were alerted to the reality of rapid and accelerated increases of Myopia amongst the younger population in East Asia. As optometrists and primary eye care practitioners, we should be able to guide our clients with expert based solutions on how to arrest and control these progressions.

GOMCC is organised with the intent to provide optometrists in the region with the opportunity to gain insights from worldwide distinguished experts in the field as well as learn of the latest related innovations available.

This year, GOMCC will encompass two days. It will be filled with programmes which will consist of Plenary Sessions, Workshops and Exhibitions. Worldwide renowned speakers will present high quality evidence based scientific programmes during the Plenary Sessions whereas the Industrial Sessions will cover latest innovations and new technology in lens designs that help in corneal reshaping as well as leading-edge specialty lenses in the region.

There will be multiple workshop sessions that will allow the delegates to learn from regional lens manufacturers about their lens design, fitting philosophies and its related problem solving. Participants are also encouraged to take time to visit the many exhibition booths from our sponsors to obtain the latest information in lens designs and instruments.

This year, there will be a Poster Exhibition Presentation area for researchers to present their latest research abstracts. Additionally as well, there will be a Boot Camp, prior to the conference, specially designed for optometrists who are new to orthokeratology. Here, delegates will learn about the basic and fundamentals of orthokeratology, corneal topography, various lens designs and the know-how to incorporate orthokeratology into their practice.

In view of the exciting programme line-up and limited seats available, we encourage you to register for the conference as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.  Don’t miss the opportunity to meet the world class speakers and network with the industry peers.  We are all here to shape the future of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control.

We look forward to welcoming you at GOMCC 2019!

Thank you.

With best wishes,

Tan Thok Chuan
